I'm a wife and mother of three children (plus three fur babies!) We all have a story, not everyone is open to share but it's important to me because we are not alone.

Unfortunately, in early 2020 my life flipped in what felt like a matter of seconds. Two years later, I found myself having to take time away from secure full-time employment and care for my husband after he was diagnosed with severe post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) including alcohol dependency and chronic fatigue. It was during some of the darkest days, the days when I felt all alone and overwhelmed, I stopped. I cried. I asked why. I got mad. I went to the gym. I meditated. I ate chocolate. I listened and I remembered that life is not all bad, (shish! it could be a hell of a lot worse) so I taught myself to embrace, accept new challenges, create new love and become ambitious – that’s where Ambitious Love was created.

Working full time for any parent is a tough gig there is no denying that, throw shift work in there and meals and snacks quickly become whatever is easiest, what the kids like (which let’s face it, never seems to be a request that includes the recommended 5 serves of fruit and veg a day) and cost effective. When do we have time to sit and enjoy a hot coffee let alone check ingredients on a packet or the back of a bottle? But after a while and a few expensive dentist visits, something had to change. Enough “infused” fizzy water with a pretend additive that may resemble some sort of citrus, enough super high sugar cordial – Let’s go back to flavours we can see and flavours we can create naturally which is exactly what I did!

Ambitious Love creates dehydrated goodness, from citrus fruit that is locally sourced in North Queensland and is the perfect addition to almost any drink. Did I mention I don’t mind a Gin?

Along the way, as a family we have discovered that our bodies need a break. Our bodies need help daily and going back to basics, back to nanna’s cooking and using natural ingredients is a great start! It’s not for everyone. I’m not a doctor, nutritionist or naturopath, all my qualifications surround a law degree but my little ‘mumma’ wins are enough to say you should try too!

We want to be part of your daily consumption, giving you that little tang in an otherwise boring drink or even have it as a quick snack!  Sour or sweet, juicy or colourful, citrus fruits such as oranges, limes and lemons are very well known for their high content of Vitamin C. A diet rich in Vitamin C will help rebuild tissues and bones, reduce inflammation, lessen the symptoms of a cold and boost immunity – we all want that!

 

So, moving forward, I’ll be here, dehydrating the perfect citrus for your cup, maybe to sprinkle through the granola or even a natural spritz in a cheeky Friday afternoon Gin. Whatever your taste desires, know the options are endless. They’re kid friendly and approved, local, fresh and affordable.

 

And even if you’ve just popped over, stumbled across or wanted to know what the fuss was, you found it - get on board! But remember, its okay to have a bad day, we all have bad days. We all have a story to tell, we all conquer in our own ways. we will all do it differently. There is no need to compare. Be kind, be in the moment and do what you love. Go out on that limb – that’s where the best fruit is!
